Gr 2-5-If you are looking for easy-to-medium crafts and activities, made with plenty of inexpensive, recycled, and on-hand materials, these books are for you. Many of these projects are grouped around a party concept. Costumes, invitations, refreshments, decor, and games provide everything a crafter needs for themed progamming. The game crafts are especially welcome; making a game and then playing it reminds kids that they can create their own fun. Lots of room for improvisation and self-expression satisfies crafters who consider instructions just a starting point. Friendly cartoon illustrations in a realistic, graphic novel style make the instructions easy to follow, although the order jumps around the page somewhat. In some cases, a template would be helpful. The last page of each book is a reproducible activity sheet. VERDICT With 24 to 26 economical projects per book, this series offers a lot of bang for the buck.
