Due to a past trauma which still haunts her, Stara Locke, New York City's arguably finest Private Investigator, takes all kinds of cases except the ones that involve finding a missing person.

When Bethany Smith enters the office and asks her to find her missing teenage daughter, Cindy, Stara politely declines. However, when Bethany later returns with a severely battered face, Stara reluctantly accepts the case, thus breaking her cardinal rule.

As she sinks deeper into the case, two things become abundantly clear. First, New York's streets will run red with blood. Second, the blood will be her own. Will she survive this deadly and bloody probe?

Meanwhile, as she dabbles on rekindling her broken romance with her Ex-boyfriend, Stara must simultaneously play sister's keeper to her two best friends, Meera and Narika.
